Soccer star Abby Wambach offered some good advice on what parents should say to their kids after watching them play in an athletic event.

I think it works great for those situations, and I also think that it can, with some slight modifications, also be useful for teachers.

I’d use it this way:

[After a student has demonstrated some good thinking, or written something particular impressive, etc.] I was very impressed when you ___________________.  Every teacher, including me,  loves to see that kind of work.   How did it feel to you when you ________________________?  What do you think you learned from doing _____________________________?

What do you think?
