I’ve previously posted about The OER Project:
Project Score is from the OER Project. It provides a lot of Social Studies prompts with scaffolded instruction and a free automating assessment tool for the student-written essays. I’m skeptical of computer-graded essays (see The Best Posts On Computer-Graded Essays), but it may be worth a look. I’d be interested in hearing from teachers who use this particular tool.
What I didn’t discover until now was that all their texts are offered in different lexile levels:
Each article in our courses is available at multiple reading levels. We want to ensure that students have access to the readings at a level appropriate for them so they can participate in class, regardless of their reading skills.
You can read more about that feature, and others, at Literacy for everyone: OER Project tools for building reading and writing skills.
