More Than 1 Million Students Didn’t Enroll During the Pandemic. Will They Come Back? is a new article in Education Week.

It’s useful information, but clearly doesn’t tell the whole story.

For example, it says that secondary enrollment is down 0.4%.

“Enrollment” might just be down that small amount.  However, I’ve had at least 5% of students (and probably a bit more) who have remained on my roster, but who I have not heard anything from during the entire school year (despite numerous outreach attempts).

So, unfortunately, I suspect that 1.3 million is a lowball number….if my experience reflects a broader one.
