Eight years ago I began this regular feature where I share a few posts and resources from around the Web related to ESL/EFL or to language in general that have caught my attention.

In addition, look for our book on teaching ELLs, which was published in the Spring of 2018 and learn about our new book.

Here are this week’s choices:

Weeve looks like an interesting way to learn languages, though it doesn’t include English right now. It lets you read a book in your home language, with a gradually increasing number of words in the target language replacing them. I’m adding it to THE BEST MULTILINGUAL & BILINGUAL SITES FOR LEARNING ENGLISH & OTHER LANGUAGES.

Loving2Read has over one-thousand books that appear to have been written specifically for the site.  They are very accessible.  They don’t have audio yet, but the site says that’s in the works.  I’m adding it to The Best Websites To Help Beginning Readers.

63 Supports for English language Learners – The Ultimate List is from Kid Inspired.  I’m adding it to The Best Advice To Content Teachers About Supporting English Language Learners.

You could show these next two videos to ELLs and have them talk and write about what they saw:

Tools for Translating Live Presentations is from Richard Byrne.

3 Strategies for Scaffolding Mathematical Discourse in Your Classroom is from ASCD. I’m adding it to The Best Resources For Teaching Common Core Math To English Language Learners.

The Comedy Wildlife Competition offers great photos to use in class.

This would be a good video to show ELLs and then have them talk and write about what they saw:
