Even though a fair number of pundits continued to be skeptical of teachers’ claims that lots of our colleagues were leaving the profession (after all, what do we know), “the data is in,” and, in fact, more teachers are leaving now than before the pandemic.

You can read all about it at Matt Barnum’s new Chalkbeat article, which was published simultaneously in USA Today.

Other research has found that attrition is particularly high among new teachers.  On top of that, the numbers of students enrolling into teacher education programs has plummeted (new research from the Rand Corporation also  says that principal turnover is thirteen percent higher than pre-pandemic levels).

Last month, I shared some strategies to turn things around at WE TEACHERS ARE NOT ALRIGHT & HERE ARE SOME IDEAS FOR MAKING THINGS BETTER, but I know better than to hold my breath that any are going to be happening…

Sigh.
