I used to say, “Good teaching for ELLs is good teaching for everybody.”

Now, however, I say, “Good teaching for ELLs is better teaching for everybody” because ELL teaching strategies make content more accessible to all students, and increase the likelihood of success for all students.

Now, based on a new report from the Office of English Acquisition, it appears that it would behoove more teachers to take my advice to heart since it appears that nearly half of us have ELLs in our classes, and that number is only going to grow….
