Most Teachers Spend Their Own Money on School Supplies. Should They? is the headline of an Education Week story about a recent survey.
The results seem to be in the ballpark of past surveys (see The Best Data On How Much Money Teachers Pay Out Of Their Own Pocket – What Do You Spend?).
Not a great situation.
As I’ve suggested before, I think it would be an interesting experiment to have private foundations just give money to teachers to spend at their discretion, and compare that academic impact to one of their usual ill-conceived grants.
I’d bet dollars to donuts which one had more successful results.
