New teacher evaluations start to hurt students is a new piece by New York Principal Carol Burris that appears in The Washington Post today. She describes how educators who have students with the highest need students are being labeled ineffective by the new New York teacher evaluation system — which includes test scores.

Linda Darling-Hammond has done extensive research how this happens when test scores are used in an evaluation process.  You can download Linda Darling Hammond’s Creating A Comprehensive System For Evaluating and Supporting Effective Teaching at the website of the Stanford Center For Opportunity Policy In Education.
