This TED Talk video from Rita Pierson on “Every Kid Needs A Champion” is a great one.
TED is billing it as a “teaser” for their big TED Talks On Education extravaganza coming up next week.
I had never heard of Rita Pierson before, but she makes great points. I wonder how and why she got connected to Ruby Payne? (see The Best Critiques Of Ruby Payne).
I’m adding the video to The Best Resources On The Importance Of Building Positive Relationships With Students.
Hallelujah and Amen.
Thanks for sharing Larry. Hard these days for me to keep up with all that’s great on TED.
She speaks about what is crucial to student success and achievement – a teacher’s belief in their students. Teacher labeling and low expectations are a huge problem throughout our educational systems (along with the freedom to teach). Most students become what their teachers believe they are.
My hope is that with technology, we can give teachers more time to focus on this so important aspect of education – relationships.
