In ANOTHER CHATGPT EXPERIMENT WITH ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS, I shared how the ChatGPT web tool could be used to help ELL students develop conversation skills.
Near the end of that post, I mentioned that I thought the ChatGPT phone app might have even greater potential in that area, but that I hadn’t tried it out yet.
Well, I have, and it does.
Here are the initial instructions I gave it orally and its response:
I then read the sentences to it. As you can see in the next screenshot, it first wrote them out, and then gave me feedback. Its critique was accurate, pointing out the errors I had made intentionally.
Obviously, if I was a Beginning English Language Learner, the usefulness of its feedback in English would be limited. So, I gave it these instructions, and you can see its response:
So, I would definitely say using the phone app, which has the audio capability, could be a useful homework assignment.
