  1. This is great. And it reminded me of something that struck me in near-sleep this morn.

    How many 20-year-olds today know what a transistor is? I don’t mean know that it’s a P-N-P junction of doped semi-conductors where chasm-leaping particles perform quantum-mechanical miracles.

    I mean, how many have even heard the word and can point to it’s uses?

    One suspects the number is close to the number of students who have seen a rotary phone.
