Yackpack is simplified version of podcasting that only requires a microphone — no software, no other equipment, no special skills. You just record a message, send it, and then you can paste the url on a teacher’s homepage or elsewhere. It’s ideal for English Language Learners to practice their pronunciation.
I’ve placed the link in two places on my website. You can find it on the Examples of Student Work page under Student Voice Messages. It’s also on the Teacher’s Page under the Podcasting category.
After I finished writing this post about Yackpack, I learned about another similar site called Evoca. The wonderful added ability Evoca has is that you can also phone in the message you want podcast.
I’ve placed the link to Evoca next to Yackpack on the Examples of Student Work page.
Larry,
What a great list of resources! I’m looking for ways to make podcasting as painless and simple as possible! It’s too bad that the concept has been inflated with names like “pod” when in reality it is simple audio recordings. Of course, the next part is where to place the audio recording for the desired audience. This is a technology and concept that seems to be evolving rapidly.
