The great duo of Irina McGrath and Michelle Shory, who have the ELL 2.0 site, gave an excellent presentation at the MLL Summit today.  In fact, it was so good that I asked them, and they agreed, to write a special post for Education Week about it.

One of the Artificial Intelligence sites they shared about is called Scraft.

In some of my previous posts about AI (see My Best Posts On Artificial Intelligence In The Classroom), I discussed how I had my students use ChatGPT to practice their writing, and then have it give them feedback in their home language.   That works very well.

Scraft does the same thing, but a whole lot better!  Instead of the student having to initiate a text conversation with it, Scraft does the prompting.

The user tells Scraft the language they want to learn and their home language, picks the topic they want to talk about, and away they go!

So, obviously, it’s useful for learners of languages other than English, too.
