Last year, I posted about Google’s experimental Aloud tool that made it super-easy to automatically dub videos into different languages (see GOOGLE’S NEW “ALOUD” TOOL COULD BE A HUGE ASSET TO TEACHERS WHO WANT TO MAKE THEIR CONTENT ACCESSIBLE TO ELLS).

I discussed how this kind of tool could allow teachers to summarize content in videos for their ELL students and then let them hear it in their home languages, and how teachers could create videos accessible to parents.

Today, I’m sure hastened by the growing number of other AI-powered tools that provide the same ability, Google announced that Aloud would be available to all creators of YouTube videos….”soon.”

I’m not sure if “soon” means tomorrow, next week or next month, but it will be extremely helpful to teachers whenever it becomes available.
