There are now over 840 “The Best…” lists, categorized by subject area. You can find them all here. Even though they are categorized, I believe the best way to search through them is by using Control and then F on the keyboard.
In 2012, I’ll continue to post new ones, though probably not at the same rapid clip — I’ve been averaging more than 200 each year!
Even though I think I do a pretty good job at keeping them updated with new resources and deleting “dead” links, it’s still a somewhat haphazard process. So, even though I probably won’t be posting two hundred new “The Best…” lists this year, I plan on starting to move a little more methodically through the ones I have revising and updating them.
I’ll let readers know as I finish each one.
Of course, you know what they say about the best laid plans….
Hi Larry,
You do a phenomenal job, so I am always grateful for your lists and all the goodies you find for us.
I assume you know this, but anyway, there are many services that will automatically check dead links for you on a regular basis and send you reports of them. While not all are free, they may be of help with the many lists you need to maintain.
Best wishes for a great 2012,
Greg.
Gregory,
I know there are ones that will check them if you insert the url of a page into it, but wasn’t aware of services that would do it regularly and automatically. I’ll search for them, but if you have suggestions I’d love to hear them.
Larry
Hi again, Larry. I can’t really recommend any as I don’t have the sort of site that needs such a service. However if you do a search for “automatic dead link checker” on Google you’ll get many results. For example, http://www.linktiger.com/ offers a daily check and report (at cost) starting from 500 links.
I hope you can find something to suit, as it is a very tedious task otherwise. Perhaps it could lead to an addition to your lists as well.
Cheers,
Greg.
