I have a good lesson on goal-setting in my book, Helping Students Motivate Themselves, and I’m beginning to organize another one. As part of that process, I’ve begun to collect video clips on goal-setting, and I’m hoping readers will help me out.

This list is a companion one to The Best Posts On Students Setting Goals.

Here’s an initial list. What I’d really like are sever very short video clips from popular movies and television shows. There are plenty of nauseating “self-help” goal-setting videos out there that would be fairly useless in a high school classroom.

Here’s what I’ve found so far — I hope you can suggest others:

Here’s the famous basketball scene from The Pursuit Of Happyness:

Next, The Dog Strikes Back: 2012 Volkswagen Super Bowl Commercial:

The first three minutes of this Lou Holtz clip (thanks to Vicki Davis):

This next one is okay, though I don’t really know most of the people quoted in it:

Here’s one from astronaut Chris Hadfield:

“I shall either find a way or make one” has been attributed to Hannibal, though he probably didn’t say it.

This goat seems to exemplify that expression — no matter who said it:

Here’s a suggestion from Antonio:

Here Are Two Activities I’ll Be Doing With My ELL Students Day We Come Back From Break

IMPRESSIVE NEW TED-TALK BY STACEY ABRAMS IS PERFECT TO SET-UP STUDENT GOAL-SETTING

NEW “BETTER – MAMBA FOREVER” WOULD BE GREAT GOAL-SETTING VIDEO FOR STUDENTS

Suggest away — I’m all ears!
