Our school year begins this Thursday.
For the first time ever, I have what appears to be a relatively sane schedule: a double period of English for newcomers, and three periods of IB Theory of Knowledge.
Here’s a questionnaire I’ll be having my TOK students complete on the first day (actually, they’ll only have a little time in class to do it, and most will have it as “homework” to be turned-in on Friday).
You can read about what I will do with them over the weekend at Responding To Student Letters From The First Day Of School.
That same post has a downloadable writing frame of a letter I would have Intermediate ELLs complete on the first day. Even though I’m providing technical assistance to all our ELL classes this year, I’m not actually teaching Intermediates this year, so won’t be using that letter.
I’m adding this post to THE BEST RESOURCES FOR PLANNING THE FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL.
Just to let you know: Twice you have spelled ‘you’ where there should be ‘your’ in your questionnaire.
The perils of doing late night work. Thanks for letting me know!
