You sometimes might want to only show portions of online videos and not its whole length. This is a short list of what I’ve found to be the best tools to use to do just that.
Here are my recommendations for The Best Tools For Cutting-Out & Saving Portions Of Online Videos:
SafeShare.TV also lets you crop videos. Nik Peachey has written a good tutorial on how to use it.
Matt Cutts, a Google engineer, explains that it’s possible to directly link to any portion of a YouTube video by just adding a few characters to the end of a YouTube url address. For example. following a YouTube address, if you add #t=31m08s, it will take you 31 minutes and 8 seconds into the video.
Here’s another related app: Video Ant is a neat application that lets you easily “annotate” YouTube videos. You can read more about it at Free Technology For Teachers.
How to Share a Portion of a YouTube Video is from Richard Byrne.
Youtube Trimmer lets you…trim and crop YouTube videos.
ytCropper – Share a Section of a YouTube Video is from Richard Byrne.
Feedback, as always, is welcome.

You should try http://viewrz.com/, a free tool to chop a segment of a YouTube video. Videos are embedded on Facebook and you can save your video as a gif !
I’m looking for a simple clipping program, online or downloadable, for YouTube videos. I blog. I’m on WordPress.com (not WordPress.org) and am limited in the formats which I can embed. I’m happy enough for now just being able to embed YouTube vids. I’d fork out for the ability to embed more formats, but don’t see the need for that.
What I do need is an ‘editor’ that will allow me to embed sections of others’ YouTube videos. I tried Chop it or whatever it’s called. But I can’t make heads or tails out of it. It worked, but I have no idea whether I can use it. There’s nothing there that I can use to keep track of my chops. I don’t want to ‘change’ anyone’s YouTube videos, but I suppose it can be argued that when you shorten them, then you are changing them. It’s sort of unfair. I can’t quote from articles but I can’t ‘quote’ from YouTube videos.
What can I use, now that you understand exactly what my needs are?
If you’re still there. Thanks in advance.
That should have been “I can quote from articles.” My bad.
Hello, this is Makoto from StepUp.
We do actually have a functionality to put segments from multiple videos via tags.
Here is how to add tags into your steps (http://www.stepup.io/videos/42878d5f28240487/at/00:35.2).
We also developed a playlist feature which has more control over how to group multiple steps. It’s currently restricted so please shoot us at info @ stepup.io if you want to try out.
Cheers.
Makoto
